The 512 Hz frequency traces all sonde and inspection camera packages operating at this frequency regardless of manufacturer. Multiple active frequencies of the 8851 allow the user to accurately locate utilities and metallic pipes with a minimum of "ghosting" to adjacent lines while mainting the ability continue locating over gaskets and arround conduit bends. The superior filtering of the 8851 receiver easily picks up tracer signals at waist height, thus eliminating the "duck walk". An analog meter displays visual signal indication and a variable pitch tone gives the user an audio indication of the signal response.
