Large metal rectifier or diode
You are looking at a large metal rectifier or diode. This thing is huge and is the largest I have ever seen. The front panel is made of Bakelite. It has 7 large threaded binding posts. The two marked CR – and CR + are 1/4†x 20 TPI. The remaining 5 are 3/8†X 16 TPI two are labeled DC-, DC+ and the last three are all AC. I imagine this thing will turn 3 phase AC into a smooth high voltage DC. Likely originally intended for use in industrial motor control applications, like on a crane. If you know for sure please let me know so I can accurately update the listing. A friend of mine who is a mine electrician said it could be connected to an AC arc welder to make it a DC arc welder. (I do not know for sure if this will work) There are no ratings listed on the frame. However I can make out C0011013-CA, AG1032, PAT No. 26XX04. The panel measures 8 11/16†X 6 1/2â€. The unit is 7†deep. There are no scratches anywhere that would indicate that it has ever been mounted or used. No dents, cracks, rust or corrosion.
