The PCM-15 Ratio Controller is an Application Module that attaches to the front of any EMERSON EMC FX Positioning Servo Drive and adds the ability to combine indexes, dwell times, and other functions to form a complete motion sequence, or “programâ€. But the most important feature is the ability to provide motion ratioed to an external signal from an encoder or another PCM-15. This external signal is referred to as a “Master Axisâ€. The features provided by the PCM-15 Ratio Controller include:
• 256 indexes (as opposed to 32 indexes in the base FX drive)
• 99 programs and a maximum of 1,024 program steps
• Indexes in a program that follow an external time base
• Dwell times between any two program steps (not just between indexes as in the basic FX drive)
• “Electronic Lineshaft†follower mode
• Wait to continue function that halts program flow until selected internal and/or external input lines become active
• Jump function to other parts of the program depending on the condition of the selected internal and/or external input lines
• Synchronized Jog and Home motions
• Programmable internal and external output lines that become active depending on program instructions
• Programmable Limit Switch option for programmable output lines
• Change maximum following error function during a program
• Change maximum torque function during a program
• Suspend/Resume Program function that records existing program data at time of interruption and permits later completion of the interrupted program
• Compound Index function that changes motor velocity at completion of compounded index distance to velocity of next index without stopping
• Logic, math, and branching functions that control program flow based on current conditions
· Ratio Control permits the FX drive to synchronize motion with an external encoder or another FX drive or PCM module combination.
· A 25 pin socket is provided for connection to an encoder cable. A through connector allows multiple axes to be synchronized to an external encoder or to each other.
· Enhanced Programming Capability: Allows the user to create more elaborate control logic applications, similar to a PLC.
· Flying Cutoff: provides accurate length cuts for almost any process.
· Expanded I/O and memory (additional 8 inputs and 4 outputs gives you 16 in / 8 out).
· Maximum of 192 functions assignable to any I/O line (Dependent on PCM Application Module used with the FX drive).
