Electroswitch 10PDT heavy lockout relay switch 20A 600V
Electroswitch is one of the finest manufacturers of heavy duty electrical utility quality
switches and similar products. These are often hard to find and outrageously priced.
The switches are rated 2 horsepower or 20 amps at 110 vac up to an unusually
high 6 amps at 600 vac. They typically are three inches in diameter and each deck
adds 5/8 of an inch to the switch depth. The shaft is an industrial standard 1/4 inch square.
These are perfect for motor controls, robotics, automation, or other shop floor uses
where a premium quality, super rugged switch is required for direct control of motors
and similar higher current loads.
Offered here is a ten pole double throw lockout relay. This seven deck switch is
basically a spring return ten pole double throw switch. You manually rotate
clockwise into the active or "reset" position where a pawl catches and holds the
position. There is a 110 vdc solenoid present. On solenoid activation, the pawl is
released and the switch springs back into its "tripped" conuterclockwise position.
In normal use, a fault or a similar trip signal activates the solenoid and returns the
switch to its CCW position. The CW position must be manually set. The CCW
position must be electrically reset.
Switching is as follows: In the tripped position, each deck connects 1 to 3 and
separately connects 5 to 7. In the set position, each deck connects 2 to 4 and
separately connects 6 to 8. Thus there are two "make" contact pairs and two
"break" contact pairs per deck. These can be converted into a more conventional
pair of SPDT contacts by externally jumpering 2 to 3 and 6 to 7.
Five of the decks have the switching just described. The sixth deck just has terminals
on it (no wipers) for wiring convenience. The seventh deck has optional solenoid switching.

The shaft extends 2-1/2 inches out the front. There is a three point 10-32 front panel
mount included. Knob and bezel are not included. Switch extends 7 inches behind panel.
The end of the shaft is 6-32 threaded.
Cost new is believed to be many hundreds of dollars.
