The UG connector allows direct bridging onto an existing wire without interrupting downstream service. Used for cutting in loading coils and bridging joints on cable taps. Insulates any two-wire combination of 19- to 26-gauge copper wire with a maximum insulation O.D. of .066.
The 3M UG connector is a self-stripping, insulated and moisture-resistant bridging connector for 2-wire solid copper conductor combinations for 19-26 AWG (0.9-0.4 mm) air core or 22-26 AWG (0.65-0.4 mm) filled cable (communication wire) having maximum insulation O.D. of 0.66 inches (1.67 mm). Color coded green. Flame retardant connector for indoor use.
3M Scotchlok Insulation Displacement Connectors (IDC) require no wire stripping or connector twisting to apply. Simply squeeze the connector shut with connector pressing telcom pliers or standard slip-joint pliers. When the connector is compressed, a "live-spring" joint is made by driving a "U" contact down into the connector. As the "U" contact is pressed into the connector, it grasps the conductors as it displaces the insulation. Contact grips the conductor and holds with a firm, resilient pressure.
