3M 721 Wrist Strap Monitor (New in the Box)
The 3M Model 721 Wrist Strap Monitor is designed to monitor the proper operation of the wrist strap grounding system of a single user.
The system features special wrist straps and ground cords that contain two separated sets of independent conductors.
The monitor makes a resistance measurement by passing a very small, direct, electric current down on conductorin cords through its current limiting resistor, into one of the conductors in the wrist strap, from the strap through the skin of the weare, back into the second conductor in the strap, through a second current limiting resistor, and back down the second conductor in the cord to the monitor.
If the resistance of this complete path is less than 35 megohms and greater than 1.5 megohms the cord, wrist strap, and the interface of the wrist strap with the weare are considered to be functioning properly.
If the measured resistance is over 35 megohms indicating a high resistance somewhere in the system, the red lamp lights, and the buzzer sounds. If the resistance is less than 1.5 megohms, indicating the one or the other of the current limiting restores is being bypassed, only the red lamp lights and buzzer does not sound.
