Vintage measuring element by esterline-angus

This item is a vintage MEASURING ELEMENT made by ESTERLINE - ANGUS of Indianopolis, Ind. U.S.A. It is mounted on a plastic base about 8.5" x 2.75" and consists of a brown Bakelite base, a middle metal block section with a clear plastic top where the mechanism is located. There is an inductor which is connected in series with the supply voltage by a red wire. There is also a black wire that goes inside the unit to a galvanic loop which, I assume, is enegized by the measuring field and moves a rotor mechanism. It is possible that a measuring hand was connected to the other end of the unit and this hand was rotating at an angle that was depending on the electromagnetic force applied. The metal label shows a serial number (504818) and a style number (4 21 Y).
